The JP MJ 008 sits between the DL1050 V-STROM's loom and its injectors and adjusts how long each one stays open, which is the whole of what a power module does.

More Capacity Again
Suzuki enlarged the twin and updated the electronics, keeping the low-rev flexibility that made the V-Strom what it is.
Diagnostics Still Work
Because nothing is written to the original controller, the service history stays readable and any fault the motorcycle develops is reported normally. A masked fault memory is one of the real costs of the alternatives.

Improve throttle response and smoothness without remapping. That is what the manufacturer says and it is what the product does. There is no third page of promises and there does not need to be.

A specialist remap with dyno time is several times the price and is written into the original controller. It can achieve more; it is also considerably harder to reverse.

Emissions regulation has tightened faster than engines have changed, and manufacturers meet it partly by running lean where the test looks. The consequence is felt by the rider rather than measured by the laboratory.
Fuel Quality
A tank of poor petrol affects a motorcycle with a module exactly as it affects one without. The correction is a fixed curve and it has no way of knowing what has been put in the tank.
