What Fills the Bed
Vapour, until it cannot take any more. Nothing in the service schedule ever renews the charcoal, so on a high-mileage motorcycle it has usually stopped working.

A Job for an Evening
Two hours at the outside, most of it disassembly and reassembly. The actual removal is a matter of minutes once the area is exposed.
What the Vent Fitting Has to Do
Let air in as fuel is drawn out, and hold fuel back when the motorcycle is on its side. A hose cut off short does the first and fails completely at the second, which is why the kit includes a proper part.
The Job Is Mostly Bodywork
Reaching the assembly takes longer than removing it, which is why doing this alongside a service or an exhaust change makes so much more sense than doing it alone.
What a Saturated Bed Feels Like
The engine turns over normally and refuses to catch for several seconds, then idles unevenly for a minute or two before settling. It is worst immediately after filling and best when the tank is nearly empty, which is the clue nobody notices.
Nothing to Calibrate
The circuit answer is a fixed value and the vent is a mechanical fitting. There is no setting, no adjustment and nothing that can be got wrong.
