Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 01670-01

Dimension A 8 mm

Dimension C 1.5 mm

Original Öhlins service part

Dimension B 25 mm

What It Is

At 8 mm, 25 mm, 1.5 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely. Port area and seat geometry decide the damping before any adjuster is touched. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil; its port layout is what makes an Öhlins damper behave the way it does.

Original Öhlins Part

The part number is the contract: it defines material, dimension and finish together. This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.

How to Be Sure It Fits

The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 01670-01 in this case. Öhlins states dimension a 8 mm, dimension b 25 mm, dimension c 1.5 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 01670-01

Category: Pistons

Dimension A: 8 mm

Dimension B: 25 mm

Dimension C: 1.5 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/01670-01_d808aef0-e6c0-42a1-a281-0df18b1e6f10.png?v=1788873927
