Throttle, clutch and rear brake work together: the engine is held just above idle, the clutch slips to meter the drive, and the rear brake trims the speed. The clutch hand does the finest work in this, holding a position in the middle of the lever travel for several seconds at a time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf the blade rests too far out, that position lies near the end of the fingers' reach, where control is weakest.
