Sprint Filter builds two WorldSBK assemblies for this airbox and prices them identically, to the cent. One carries the fastest cloth in the programme, the other the water-repellent one, and the catalogue does not ask more for either. That is the most useful line on the page, because it says where the money actually went — into the carbon fibre frame the two share — and it means picking a medium here is not a budget decision at all.

Same price, so the question is conditions

With cost taken out of it the choice comes down to what the bike meets. A rating of 15,000 l/m²/sec is headroom, and headroom only counts while something is drawing on it — a wide throttle held open for the length of a lap, again and then again. The other assembly answers a different question entirely: a weave that does not surrender its throughput when the airbox takes water. Neither ranks above the other and neither, in an unmodified airbox, makes a standard V2 noticeably stronger. If the riding is neither sustained full load nor persistent weather, the ordinary panel for this housing covers both cases for a fraction of the outlay.

You cannot re-cloth the frame

These are complete assemblies, not media sold by the sheet. Changing your mind later means buying a second carbon frame along with the second cloth, so this is one of the few decisions in a service schedule that never gets revised at the next interval. It argues for choosing against the way the machine is genuinely used across a season rather than against the way it might be used once. R127S F1-85-SBK is the answer for repeated full-load running; anything else is a different part number.

Care and cleaning

Service it with an air line rather than solvent. Direct the nozzle at the clean side and work outward across the weave, driving the load back out the way it came in. Water is the exception rather than the routine: lukewarm, with a mild washing-up detergent, when a film has settled that air cannot shift, then rinsed until nothing more leaves the cloth. After that it dries by standing in open air, never over heat and never near a flame, and it is refitted only when dry all the way through, with nothing sprayed on it.
