The Griso is the Guzzi that never quite fitted a category — too big to be a naked, too raw to be a cruiser, and built around 1151 cc of air-cooled eight-valve twin that does its work in the middle of the rev range. Owners tend to be people who chose it deliberately and then kept it, which makes the long view the right one for service parts. The Sprint Filter P08 PM01S is designed to last the life of the motorcycle: cleaned and refitted rather than bought again at every interval.

PM01S covers the Griso 850 and 1100 from the mid-2000s, the 8V and 8V Special Edition, and this SE 8V through to 2026 — the whole line, plus the Stelvio, the V85, the California 1400 range and the Aprilia V4 family. Twenty-seven machines in total. For a model with a long production history and a devoted, small following, that breadth is the practical guarantee that the part stays in production and stays findable.

Where an air-cooled twin shows restriction

A high-revving engine can mask a loading filter because it spends its time where there is power to spare. The Griso does not: it is used low and in the middle, on the roll-on, and that is transient work. The pressure drop across a partly loaded element rises with flow, so it costs most exactly there. Nothing feels faulty — the bike simply becomes less muscular in the way that made you choose it.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry; there is no oiling step.
