Sprint Filter PM200S air filter⟲ 360° — drag me

The facts.

DescriptionThe whole story▼

It is worth being precise about what an air filter is responsible for, because the list is shorter than the marketing around intake parts implies. The PM200S guards one path: the air entering the engine through the airbox. It has no bearing on oil quality, valve clearances, chain wear, fuel contamination or the state of a coolant hose. What it does inside that one path it does well, and everything outside it stays your service schedule's problem.

Key Features

  • Dry woven polyester rated at 80 microns, with nothing oiled at any stage
  • Filter area roughly doubled against comparable performance panels for this box
  • Replaces the paper element without touching the airbox, the ducting or the map
  • Cleaned with air and reused; not a part that leaves in the workshop bin
  • Two years of warranty from the purchase date
  • Designed to remain serviceable for the motorcycle's whole life

The part of the engine it actually defends

Airborne grit is abrasive, and the place it does its harm is between the piston rings and the bore. Once past the element it is not caught again — it goes through the combustion chamber and out. That is why filtration is a wear question rather than a performance question, and why the useful figure is the proportion the weave holds rather than anything you could feel through the bars. On a 250 single ridden in cities the dust load is fine, constant and unremarkable, which is exactly the kind this medium was drawn for.

What still needs doing

A clean element will not save an engine run on stale fuel or long-overdue oil. It will not compensate for a split intake boot or a lid refitted with a twisted seal, since air that goes around the medium is not filtered by it at all. Nor does it add anything to the output — no panel inside a sealed standard airbox does, and Sprint Filter makes no such claim. Fit it, seat the lid properly, keep the rest of the schedule, and the filter will do its narrow job for as long as you own the Svartpilen.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean face outwards clears an ordinary season's load. For anything heavier, wash the panel by hand in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse it until nothing more comes away, and let it dry naturally — heat and open flames are the two things that will finish it off. The illustrated sheet in the Downloads tab shows the sequence. Refit only when it is dry, and add nothing to it.

Fitment & Compatibility

Catalogued for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 from 2020 to 2026. It is a shaped panel for the series box rather than a cut-down universal, and the same code appears against thirteen other Husqvarna and KTM machines — see the Fitment tab for the full set with years.
