Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Bimota DB8 (2014–2019) CM13S

Air filters are catalogued against airboxes, and this one reaches a long way. Eighteen machines are listed under CM13S: six Bimota and twelve Ducati, from 848 sports bikes to the Multistrada and the Diavel. The DB8 is one of the six. For anyone keeping a low-volume motorcycle on the road that is the useful starting point, because it is the housing that defines which element belongs in it, and this housing is a well-supplied one.

What a shared listing is worth here

An element stays in production because of the whole list it serves, not because of any one model on it. That is a quiet advantage for the owner of a machine built in small numbers: the maintenance item in the airbox is not tied to how many DB8s were made, and ordering it is a matter of quoting CM13S rather than hoping a parts counter recognises the model. It also means the fit is defined by the box and nothing else — an element cut for this housing seals in this housing, whatever badge is on the tank in front of it.

What the element does, and what it does not

It does not add power. An element dropped into an unmodified airbox does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger, and that is worth saying plainly on a machine of this kind, where the interesting engineering is elsewhere. What it does is narrower and durable: the intake resistance starts lower and, more to the point, stays where it started, because the cloth is washed back to a condition that repeats. The paper panel that used to be bought at every service simply stops appearing on the list.

Care and cleaning

The whole procedure is an air line. Hold it to the clean face of the CM13S and work outward, so the dirt leaves by the route it came in. When air has stopped being enough, lukewarm water and a mild washing-up detergent finish the job; rinse until the water runs clear. It then dries in open, moving air and nowhere else — no hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame, because heat is what ruins polyester. It goes back in dry, with nothing sprayed on it. Fitment & Compatibility
