Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 (2017–2019) PM108S

A supermoto is ridden differently from the sports bike it shares an engine family with: shorter bursts, less time in the upper gears, and a rider sitting in the airstream instead of behind a screen. None of that alters what the airbox needs, but it does change how often the machine meets dust. For the Dorsoduro 900 Sprint Filter lists exactly one medium, PM108S in the P08 weave, so the choice here is not between filters. It is between a panel that gets thrown away and a cloth that gets washed.

One medium, and what that settles

Some airboxes in this range are served by three or four different weaves, and the buyer has to work out where the bike really goes before choosing one. This is not among them. Sprint Filter publishes a single option for the Dorsoduro 900, which removes the question: the P08 is the specification, and the balance between fineness and flow has already been struck in favour of ordinary road use. That suits the machine, which is a road motorcycle whatever its styling implies.

Dust, and why dry matters here

Ride a supermoto and sooner or later you follow a gravel road to something better. The property that counts there is that the P08 is dry. No oil can be washed out of it by rain and none has to be put back afterwards, so a dirty filter becomes a cleaning job instead of a re-treatment job. The retention figures above are what the cloth achieves unaided. What it will not achieve is more power: an element in an unmodified airbox does not make a series motorcycle noticeably stronger, and this one is no exception.

Care and cleaning

PM108S is cleaned with compressed air from the clean side outward, so the material it caught is pushed back along the path it arrived by rather than driven further in. Move the nozzle over the whole surface. When the cloth stays discoloured after that, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will finish the job, and it should be rinsed until the water leaves it clear. Drying is done in moving air only, never with heat, a radiator or a flame, and the element is fitted dry with nothing sprayed on it. The maintenance sheet is under Downloads.

Fitment & Compatibility

Specified for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 to 2019. This housing is shared more widely than the model name suggests: six Aprilia machines are covered in total, among them the Dorsoduro 750 and the Dorsoduro Factory, the Shiver 750 and the Shiver GT, and the Shiver 900.
