X-ring 69.44x3.53, Öhlins part number 01027-21. Seal heads combine the oil seal, the dust seal and the bushing in one assembly.

Key Features

  • Original Öhlins service part
  • Cross Section 3.53 mm
  • Öhlins part number 01027-21
  • Inner Diameter 69.44 mm

What It Is

Öhlins gives it as 69.44 mm, 3.53 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Öhlins specifies the compound by position: NBR where oil is the concern, FKM where heat is. O-rings are single-use in a pressurised damper — they are replaced whenever the unit is opened. The dust seal does the hard work: it keeps the grit that would score the shaft away from the oil seal.

Original Öhlins Part

Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.

Identifying the Right Part

The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 01027-21 in this case. Check inner diameter 69.44 mm, cross section 3.53 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Assembly grease matters — the wrong compound swells the seal and it fails early. Cross-section is as important as diameter: an O-ring that is too thin will not seal at pressure.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
