DescriptionThe whole story▼
Adjuster rod 489.5x3.5mm, Öhlins part number 04771-29. An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 04771-29
- Original Öhlins service part
Function
This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. The adjuster knob is what the rider touches, and Öhlins colour-codes it by function. The needle tip is the wear part: once rounded, the first few clicks stop doing anything. Adjuster housings carry seals, and a leak there empties the damper as surely as a shaft seal.
Why the Original
Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
How to Be Sure It Fits
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 04771-29 in this case. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Compression and rebound adjusters are not interchangeable even when they look similar. The adjuster knob is what the rider touches, and Öhlins colour-codes it by function.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
