MT-Helmets Track SV Questor C23 Adventure Helmet – Matt Grey / Neon Yellow

Questor C23 puts fluorescent yellow into MT's adventure helmet. Grey and black panels across the shell, a bright yellow field running through the flank and into the peak, and the Questor lettering along the side. It is the version for riders who spend real time on public roads between the trails.

About the Questor C23 finish

Matt. Grey and black panels break diagonally across the shell in hard edges, with a fluorescent yellow field running through the flank and up into the peak, and a second yellow flash under the chin. QUESTOR is lettered in tonal grey along the side, and the MT logo sits in yellow at the base of the shell.

Everything under the paint is the Questor B9: the same shell, the same standard, the same SHARP result, the same equipment. What changes is where your eye goes — the B9 is a helmet that disappears into a dusty landscape, this one is a helmet that does not.

Fluorescent yellow works by absorbing ultraviolet and re-emitting it as visible light, which is why it appears to glow on an overcast day — precisely the conditions in which a motorcycle is hardest to see. It does nothing after dark; there is no UV at night, and that is what reflective material on your jacket is for.

Why only this model carries a rating

Of everything MT builds, exactly one helmet appears in the SHARP database, and it is this one — with four stars out of five.

That is worth explaining, because "not rated" is easy to misread as "rated badly". SHARP is a British government programme with a finite budget; it selects which helmets to buy and test, and a model absent from its list has simply never been submitted to the destruction rig. It is not a failure and it is not a score of zero.

So the correct reading is asymmetric: a SHARP rating is evidence, and its absence is not evidence of anything. We will tell you when a helmet has one — and we will not quietly imply that its silent siblings share it.

Cleaning a bright helmet after a trail day

A fluorescent panel collects dust in a way a dark shell hides completely, and the temptation after a dusty ride is to wipe it with whatever is to hand.

Do not. Trail dust is mineral, which means it is abrasive, and dragging it across a matt clearcoat leaves marks that cannot be polished out — matt has no correction path at all. Rinse first with plain water, let the grit float off, then use a soft wet cloth with no pressure. Two minutes of patience is the difference between a helmet that looks new in year three and one that has gone dull at the widest point of every panel.

Visor or goggles

The eye port takes the HS-12 screen, and it is cut so that goggles fit with the screen removed. The screen comes off without tools.

On a mixed ride the sequence is: visor for the road out, goggles once the surface breaks up, visor again for the way home. Being able to do that in a lay-by without a toolkit is the entire point of a dual-sport helmet, and it is the reason a helmet like this replaces two.

The peak

Shades low sun, blocks roost from the wheel in front, and — honestly — generates lift and a side load above roughly 120 km/h that a plain full-face does not.

On a bright helmet the peak does one more thing worth mentioning: it puts the fluorescent panel higher and further forward than a road helmet can, which is where an approaching driver's eye actually goes.

MT-ESP sun visor

A retractable sun visor with an extended coverage field, dropped and lifted with a slider.

Adventure riding is constant light changes — tree shade, open valley, tunnel, low sun. A shade you can operate with a thumb without taking your hand off the bar is worth more here than on any road helmet.

ECE 22.06 · no DOT

Mandatory across Europe since January 2024. The 22.06 tests 18 impact points instead of the 22.05's five, at several speeds, and adds an oblique impact against an abrasive anvil to measure rotational loading. MT publishes no DOT marking for the Track SV; we do not claim one.

ERS emergency release

Red tabs allow a first responder to pull the cheek pads out sideways, so the helmet can be removed without lifting or twisting the head.

It is worth knowing which of your helmets has this and which does not. On this one it is fitted; on our Braker and Stinger models it is not.

Anti-fog, liner, weight

The HS-12 takes Pinlock DKS 623 and FogOff inserts — neither supplied. The liner is removable, washable and made from antibacterial quick-dry fabric. MT publishes 1,500 g for the shell, which is light for a helmet with a peak and an internal shade.

The weight figure deserves a second's thought on an adventure helmet, because it is felt differently here. Seated on a road bike your spine carries the helmet almost vertically; standing on the pegs over rough ground your neck holds it out in front of you, and the peak puts what mass there is further from the pivot. A hundred grams that would go unnoticed on a motorway is a genuine difference by the end of a technical hour.

The liner is the part that wears out first on this kind of helmet, long before the shell is anywhere near its replacement date. Wash it rather than tolerate it — MT sells the pads as spares, and a fresh set makes an old helmet feel new for a fraction of a new one.
