DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Tiger 800 XR is a natural long-distance companion, and many of them spend their summers crossing borders with a tank bag and two side cases. For the XR of 2015 to 2018, Accossato makes the AGPA72 front pad in the Sintered (ST) compound. It is aimed at the traveller who rides in every season, meets rain as part of the journey and wants the brake to behave the same way at the foot of a long pass as it did at the top.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) front pad AGPA72
  • For the Triumph Tiger 800 XR, 2015-2018
  • Accossato: high, constant grip at low and high temperatures and good wet grip
  • Designed for travel, passengers and all-season use
  • Steady lever feel on descents
  • One box of two pads fits one front caliper
  • Also made as OR, EV1 and EV2

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato says the Sintered compound delivers high, stable grip across low and high temperatures and works well on a wet disc. For a touring XR, those two statements cover most of what matters: a cold start in the morning, a hot brake after a long descent, and a disc covered in spray during a downpour. The maker also attributes low wear, fade resistance through controlled heat and strong stopping power to its pads.

Luggage, Weather and Long Descents

Add a pillion and full cases to an XR and the front brake must slow considerably more weight on every stop. On an Alpine descent, repeated braking heats the discs, and a pad with constant grip keeps the lever where you expect it. In rain, the ability to bite through water on the disc is what makes a wet hairpin feel manageable. Riders who keep the bike on the road through autumn and winter, rather than laying it up, benefit from that consistency too. For relaxed solo commuting, the OR pad is the gentler option; for circuit use, EV1 or EV2.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA72 for the Tiger 800 XR from 2015 to 2018. No front fitment for the 2019 and 2020 XR is listed for this pad. With two front calipers, you need two boxes. Accossato's rear pad for the XR is AGPP89. Before a trip, check pad thickness, the discs and the fluid level; replace both front calipers' pads together and bed them in with progressive stops.

Road Approval

No German ABE or test documentation exists for AGPA72ST as far as our records go. It is sold for use in racing and competition.
