DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Multistrada 1260 S is a motorcycle of menus and settings: a colour display, riding modes, electronically adjusted suspension, and on many bikes a phone or navigation device clipped to the bars as well. On the open road that technology helps. At walking pace, looking down at it is one of the classic ways to drop a big touring bike: the rider glances at the route while rolling into a car park, the front wheel drifts onto a kerb or a patch of gravel, and the bike is gone. Accossato lists its PF05 front axle sliders for the Multistrada 1260 S for 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 S, listed for 2018
- Accossato PF05 front fork protection
- Pair of protectors, one per side
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and the remaining mounting parts in the kit, per Accossato
- Meant to meet the ground first in a tip-over
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato supplies as the PF05 is a black pair of front protectors, built from aluminium and plastic, with spacers, screws and the other parts for mounting included in the kit. Nothing about them is electronic, and on a bike like this that is rather the point. When the Multistrada 1260 S goes over at low speed, the sliders are designed to be the first thing that meets the ground, ahead of the fork, which can reduce the damage there. They do not make a fall harmless. After one, look at them closely and replace any slider that is cracked, bent or worn through.
Eyes Up at Walking Pace
Distraction falls tend to happen close to the destination, when the rider slows down and starts looking for the hotel entrance, the petrol station or a parking space. The bike is moving just fast enough to need steering and just slowly enough to fall over quickly. The remedy is discipline. Set the route before you ride, and if you need to check it again, stop completely in a safe spot with the side stand down. Spoken directions through a helmet intercom keep your eyes on the road. Change riding modes or suspension settings only when the bike is standing, or cruising on a straight and empty road, never while threading through a car park. Mount the phone or navigation device where a glance does not mean dropping your head, and switch off notifications that tempt you to read them. On the Multistrada 1260 S the menus are clearly laid out, but at walking pace no display deserves more than a moment of attention.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list shows the PF05 for the Multistrada 1260 S in two rows; one of them reaches back to years before the 1260 S existed, so our shop links the sliders to 2018, the model's first year. Beyond these sliders, Accossato's list offers nothing else in the way of protection for this model. In our catalogue the same sliders are also linked to the Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak and the Multistrada 1260 S D|Air. Please compare your Multistrada 1260 S with the application list before ordering, and after fitting, turn the bars fully both ways and spin the front wheel to make sure nothing rubs.
Road Approval
Without a German ABE or test documentation for the PF05, we supply these sliders for racing and competition use.
