DescriptionThe whole story▼

The ZX-10R that arrived for 2016 was a new machine at the front end, with larger brakes and a new fork, developed alongside Kawasaki's World Superbike effort. Anyone ordering discs for a ZX-10R therefore has to know on which side of that line the bike falls. For the models from 2016 to 2021, Accossato lists the DKS041, a floating Elite disc with an outside diameter of 330 mm and a 5.5 mm friction ring on a black carrier.

Key Features

  • Accossato DKS041 floating front disc for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2016 to 2021

  • Elite line with logo rivets
  • 330 mm outside diameter, 80 mm inside
  • Friction ring 5.5 mm thick
  • Carrier in black
  • Price per disc, two needed at the front
  • No German ABE documented, for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The DKS041 belongs to Accossato's Elite line, recognisable by the logo on each rivet. Those rivets link a black carrier with an 80 mm centre to a friction ring 330 mm in diameter, which the supplier specifies at 5.5 mm thick. Because the ring is held by rivets instead of being one piece with the centre, it can expand under heat on its own terms. Accossato adds that the low weight of its discs pays off in steering and control, a point that counts on a superbike that changes direction as quickly as a ZX-10R.

Which ZX-10R Do You Have?

Kawasaki changed the front brake of the ZX-10R with the 2016 model year, and the two generations need different discs. Accossato therefore lists two parts: the DK235, with a smaller ring, for the bikes of 2008 to 2015, and this DKS041 for 2016 to 2021. The model year in the registration papers is the first clue, but it can mislead on a bike that was registered a year or two after it was built. The frame number and Kawasaki's model code tell you more.

The quickest check of all is a tape measure across the disc that is fitted now. If it spans 330 mm and the ring is around 5.5 mm thick, you are in the right place. Look also for changes made by earlier owners: a ZX-10R that has been raced may carry wheels or brake parts from another source. A few minutes of checking before you order saves a return parcel and, more importantly, keeps anyone from forcing a part onto a bike it was not made for. If your figures disagree with those of the DKS041, send us the frame number and we will look into it.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DKS041 for the ZX-10R from 2016 to 2021 and names a long row of editions in its catalogue, from KRT Replica and Winter Edition bikes to the SE. The disc replaces one of the two original front discs; the price covers a single disc, so two are needed for a full change. The same part is listed for the ZX-10RR of 2017 to 2021.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE and no type approval on record for the DKS041. We supply it for track riding.
