DescriptionThe whole story▼
Turning a Monster 1200 round in a narrow street looks easy until you try it: full steering lock, walking pace, eyes up, and a clutch that has to be slipped with great delicacy while the rear brake keeps the speed in check. The left hand decides whether the U-turn flows or ends with a foot down. The Accossato ESH011 is a clutch lever machined from aluminium for the 2014 to 2019 Monster 1200, and its reach can be set so the friction zone lies under relaxed fingers.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Monster 1200, 2014 to 2019
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable to the grip
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm, plus short and long versions
- CNC-machined from solid aluminium, anodised
- Hub always black; seven blade colours
- Rigid blade without a folding joint
- No German ABE is documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
At walking pace the clutch is controlled in tiny movements, and any looseness in the lever itself blurs them. The ESH011 is designed to avoid that. It is a fixed lever, milled from one piece of aluminium with no folding joint, so the blade moves only around its pivot. Accossato anodises it afterwards: the hub, home of the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, in black, and the blade in the colour you order. The anodised surface is hard-wearing, which suits a lever that is touched on every ride.
Full Lock, Walking Pace
A tight U-turn on the Monster 1200 is a balance of three controls. The throttle holds the engine steady just above idle, the rear brake sets the speed, and the clutch meters the drive in between. Of the three, the clutch needs the finest touch, because too much engagement makes the bike surge wide and too little lets it drop into the turn. Fingers are most precise in the middle of their range, not at full stretch, so a lever resting close to the grip helps.
Practise in an empty car park with the reach set closer than usual, then decide what suits you. For this kind of work the standard blade is the natural choice, and it is the only length in which red and black are made. Keep your eyes on the exit of the turn rather than on the kerb, and let clutch and rear brake do the rest.
Fitment and Compatibility
This clutch lever is listed by Accossato for the Monster 1200 from 2014 to 2019. The EDF099 brake lever covers the same years on the right side. The Monster 1200 R and Monster 1200 S each have their own product page.
Road Approval
German ABE: none documented. The lever is sold for use on closed tracks.
