DescriptionThe whole story▼

Park an MT-07 outside a café, and there is a fair chance another one will pull in beside it. Yamaha's twin has been one of the most common sights on European roads since 2014, and owners find their own ways of telling theirs apart. A brake lever is one of the simplest: small, reversible, and in your hand on every ride. The Accossato EDF016 is a machined aluminium brake lever for the MT-07 of 2014 to 2024 that fits the original master cylinder, adjusts in reach and comes in seven colours and three lengths.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Yamaha MT-07, model years 2014 to 2024
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable at the pivot
  • Blade lengths short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long, by colour
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
  • Rigid one-piece blade
  • No German ABE documented, sold for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF016 is machined from solid aluminium and anodised in two tones. Its hub is black on every version and contains the pivot and the reach adjustment, so the mechanical end of the lever always looks the same. The blade is where the choice lies, and because the colour is part of the anodised surface, it stays even from end to end, without the edges wearing through as paint would. There is no fold in the blade: from hub to tip, the lever is a single rigid piece.

One MT-07 Among Many

Personalising a popular bike is part of the fun of owning one, and the controls are an honest place to start, because you see and touch them on every ride. A few thoughts help the result look deliberate. First, one accent colour usually works better than several: if your MT-07 already has coloured wheels or graphics, a blade in the same colour ties the cockpit to them, while a black blade keeps a dark bike dark. Second, think in pairs, because a coloured brake lever next to a black stock clutch lever can look unfinished; Accossato's clutch levers for the MT-07 come in the same colours. Third, treat the length as part of the look: the short blade gives the cockpit a compact, sporty appearance, the long one a more substantial one. And keep the original lever in its box. The change is entirely reversible, which is worth something when the bike is sold one day.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF016 for the MT-07 from 2014 to 2024, a span that includes the original bike, its first update and the revised model of 2021. Its list also carries the names FZ 700 and MT-07 700 for these years. For the clutch side there are two Accossato levers: the ESV04A for bikes up to 2020 and the ESY688 for the whole span to 2024.

Road Approval

This brake lever has no documented German ABE; we sell it for use on the track.
