A micron figure is a claim about air that goes through the cloth. Air that finds its way around the edge of a panel is not filtered at all, and no specification printed on the box covers it. That makes the two least glamorous parts of the job — seating the element squarely in its frame and closing the lid onto the seal — worth more attention than the number itself. On a Tesi H2, where everything after the panel is closed up and out of reach, this is the last point in the induction path where anything can be got right or wrong by hand.
Key Features
- Single-layer woven polyester used dry; nothing is oiled when new or after cleaning
- 80 microns at a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec, the road and track medium of the programme
- Polyester thread from ø 22 microns upward — a fibre dimension, not the width of the opening
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance elements
- Direct replacement for the paper panel in the series airbox; nothing cut, no remapping
- Cleaned and refitted for the life of the machine, with two years of warranty
Seating comes before filtration
Every published figure assumes the whole airflow passes through the medium. In practice a panel twisted in its groove, a lid closed on a trapped edge or a hardened seal will let some of it past, and that share arrives unfiltered whatever the cloth is rated at. A habit worth keeping after each service: set the element in dry, press it down evenly the whole way round, and check the lid pulls onto the seal without a gap anywhere. The element itself will tell you if something is wrong — a clean stripe across an otherwise loaded face usually means air has been taking a route of its own.
Deeper pleats want a longer clean
Around twice the cloth area inside a housing that has not grown means the material is folded more tightly, and each fold has to be reached when the element is serviced. Working the air line along the pleats rather than across the face takes a minute more and is the difference between an element that is clean and one that looks it. The reward is modest and real: the restriction goes back to where it started instead of climbing through a season. It is not power. A panel in an unmodified airbox gives back the restriction it caused itself and nothing further.
Care and cleaning
An air line does almost all of it. Hold it to the clean side of the PM153S and blow outward, following the folds. If the machine has stood over a winter or been out in bad weather, wash the element in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Then let it dry in moving air, with no heat gun, radiator or flame anywhere near it, and refit it completely dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the airbox of the Bimota Tesi H2 built from 2020 to 2026. Three machines share the code: the Tesi H2, the Tesi H2 Tera and the Kawasaki ZX1000 Ninja H2 of 2015 to 2026, all named in the Fitment tab. The same housing is catalogued with the 14-micron P14, the 7-micron T12 and the racing F1-85 cloth.
