How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure. It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result. Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears. At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly taut, but must not constrict. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the smaller one: the padding of a new helmet settles by a few millimetres over the first few hours of riding.

Pure A6 is the cheapest helmet in our MT range: a plain matt mint-green Aeris at €69.95. That number invites one obvious question — what has been left out — and the honest answer is: nothing that the standard requires, and one thing you may want.
What €69.95 does not cost you
The Aeris meets ECE 22.06 and MT additionally lists DOT. Its impact liner is variable-density EPS. Its lining is anti-allergenic, removable and washable. Its buckle is a micrometric ratchet. Its visor is a proper impact-resistant screen with real optical quality.
None of that is stripped out at this price. MT's volume in this class is large enough that the entry helmet uses the same standard-clearing construction as the ones above it — what you pay more for further up the range is equipment, not compliance.
What it does cost you: the chin
This is an open-face helmet. There is no chin bar, and in a frontal impact the chin and jaw are unprotected. That is true of every jet ever made, and it is the trade the category exists to offer: air, an open field of view, a helmet you can talk in at a fuel stop.
If your riding is fast road or motorway, buy a full-face. Our Stinger 2 starts not far above this helmet and covers your face. We would rather point you there than sell you a jet for the wrong journey.
About the mint finish
A6 is a soft, pale mint green, matt, with no graphic at all — the vent trims and the visor mechanism in gloss black are the only contrast on the shell.
A pale colour is a quietly practical choice on a helmet used in town: it is easier for a driver to separate from a grey street than a dark helmet is, and a light shell reflects solar load rather than passing it into the interior — worth something on a jet, where there is no drop-down visor to hide behind. Matt keeps it from turning into a mirror in photographs and hides handling marks.
Two shells across seven sizes
The Aeris is moulded in two outer shell sizes for a range from XXS to XXL. The difference between sizes within one shell is made up in padding, so a helmet at the small end of a shell sits slightly larger on the head than the number suggests. Take the size the chart gives you rather than ordering by tape alone; between two sizes, take the smaller, because new padding settles in the first hours.
The V-26 visor
A long V-26 screen in impact-resistant material, capped by a mechanism carrying the MT logo — the detail that gives the Aeris its face. A smoked V-26 is available separately.
There is no drop-down sun visor on this helmet. In low evening sun you will want either the tinted screen or sunglasses, and neither is in the box.
Why a plain colour is the harder one to make well
A graphic hides things. A single flat colour over a moulded shell does the opposite: every seam, every vent surround, every transition between the shell and its trim sits exposed, and any unevenness in the paint reads immediately.
It is worth looking at a plain helmet closely before buying, because on a plain helmet what you are looking at is the build quality — there is nothing else on the surface to look at. Mint is also an unusual choice at this price; MT's entry colours are normally black, white and grey, and a pastel means a separate paint run for a smaller volume.
Airflow
Upper intakes and a rear extraction. On an open-face the aperture handles the face; the vent system is there for the crown, which is where a jet actually gets hot — sitting at lights in July, not moving at 80.
The extraction at the back is the half that gets forgotten. Air only moves through a helmet if it has somewhere to leave: intakes alone give you pressure against the forehead and nothing else. It is a small detail and it is why the crown of this helmet clears rather than simply warms up.
What a jet is genuinely better at
The honest case for an open-face is not that it is cheaper. It is that in town it is simply better to wear: you hear the traffic properly rather than through a shell, you can speak to someone at a light without lifting anything, you can put it on and take it off in seconds, and on a hot day standing still there is no comparison at all.
Those are real advantages for short urban trips, and they are why jets keep selling to riders who own a full-face as well. The mistake is using one for the journeys the other is built for.
Interior and buckle
The lining is anti-allergenic, removable and washable — not a luxury on a helmet that will do short summer trips, because a jet's lining takes more sweat and there is less of it than in a full-face. The micrometric buckle adjusts a tooth at a time and works in gloves.
What is missing
- No chin bar. The defining limitation of the category.
- No sun visor. Tinted V-26 sold separately.
- No safety rating. SHARP has not tested the Aeris; there is no ADAC and no Snell result. Untested, not badly rated — and we will not lend it another model's stars.
- No published weight. MT does not give a figure for this helmet, and we are not going to estimate one.
Where it sits
This is the floor of our MT jet range. Above it the Street S and Viale SV S, and then the Cosmo SV with its drop-down sun visor, MT-QVSS tool-free visor swap and removable rear deflector.
The upgrade that actually changes daily life is the sun visor. If you want one, spend up to a Cosmo SV. If you do not, this helmet clears the same standard for less than half the money.
