DescriptionThe whole story▼

Ducati's V4 superbike runs more than one dashboard depending on where it races, and the panel on a bike built for WorldSBK is not the one fitted at the factory to a production Panigale V4, in S or R trim, or to the Streetfighter version. Melotti Racing lists an Impact Absorber cut specifically for this SBK race dashboard, the one carried on works-spec Ducati superbikes, sold under the code DC.DU.418N1 and finished in black. For the production cockpit, Melotti Racing's separate DC.DU.3181 and DC.DU.3251 covers are the correct choice instead.

Key Features

  • Dashboard Protection Impact Absorber cut for the Ducati SBK race dashboard, Melotti part DC.DU.418N1
  • Built for the race dashboard fitted to works-spec Ducati V4 superbikes prepared for WorldSBK, not the production cockpit
  • Finished in black, as stated on Melotti Racing's price list
  • Not interchangeable with the production Panigale cockpit, covered instead by Melotti's DC.DU.3181 and DC.DU.3251
  • Melotti Racing also lists a closely related DC.DU.418W1 cover for the WSBK dashboard; the difference between the two is not documented, so confirm with us before ordering
  • Matching replacement front screen panel available separately as DC.DU.418N.PF
  • Anti-reflective, scratch-proof film available for this dashboard cut as DC.DU.418.PL, fitted using the DC.PL.KA activation kit

Construction and Material Quality

Melotti Racing's own note for the DC.DU.418N1 covers one line on its price list, naming the part a dashboard cover for the SBK dashboard and confirming the black finish; the company has not published a separate technical description or a photograph of this specific cover, unlike several other Impact Absorbers in its range. What is certain is the finish and the dashboard it is cut for. Beyond that, we are not going to present construction details drawn from other Melotti dashboard covers as confirmed facts about this particular part, because Melotti has not stated them for the SBK cover itself. If you need more detail on the case before ordering, for example on how the front panel is held in place, ask us and we will check with Melotti Racing directly.

SBK Dashboard, Not the Stock Panigale Cockpit

The distinction Melotti Racing draws here matters more than the part numbers alone make obvious. A standard Panigale V4 leaves the factory with its own dashboard and its own cockpit layout, whether built in base, S or R form, and that cockpit is protected by Melotti Racing's DC.DU.3181 cover, or by the DC.DU.3251 on the 2025 model. The DC.DU.418N1 is a different part, cut for the SBK race dashboard fitted to works-spec Ducati superbikes built and run under WorldSBK rules, where the full electronics package and instrument layout differ from the production bike. A rider converting a road-going machine for club racing should check which dashboard is actually fitted before ordering either cover, since the two are not interchangeable.

SBK or WSBK: Confirm Before You Order

Melotti Racing's own naming adds a second distinction on top of the first. The price list calls this cover the SBK version, priced apart from a second cover it calls the WSBK version, code DC.DU.418W1. Melotti Racing does not explain what separates the two SBK-spec dashboards, and nothing in its published material tells us whether the difference is cosmetic, a running change between seasons, or a genuinely different panel shape. Rather than guess which of the two matches a dashboard already fitted to a bike, tell us the dashboard or electronics package you have and we will check which code is the correct one before you place an order.

Fitment and Compatibility

This cover fits the SBK race dashboard used on works-spec Ducati superbikes built for WorldSBK competition; it does not fit the standard dashboard on a production Panigale V4, in S or R trim, or on the Streetfighter version, which instead take Melotti Racing's DC.DU.3181 or, on the 2025 model, the DC.DU.3251. It is not stated to fit any other dashboard, and Melotti Racing's related DC.DU.418W1 cover for the WSBK dashboard should not be assumed to be interchangeable with this one until the difference between the two is confirmed.

Road Approval

No type approval or test certificate is on file for this cover. It is sold as a protective accessory for a race dashboard fitted to a works-spec Ducati superbike built for WorldSBK competition, used on a racetrack or closed circuit; a bike carrying this dashboard and cover is not approved for use on public roads in Germany without separate registration, and at an organised event the rules of the race organiser apply.
