DescriptionThe whole story▼
Inside a motocross helmet the cheek pads work harder than any other part. They are squeezed each time the helmet goes on, they soak up sweat moto after moto, and over a season the foam slowly loses its spring. This grey pair is the Leatt replacement for the Leatt Moto 2.5 and gives a tired helmet back the firm hold around the face it had on day one.
Made for the Moto 2.5
The pads are shaped for the Leatt Moto 2.5 and for no other helmet. The Moto 2.5 uses emergency-removable safety cheek pads, so the pads are designed to come out of the shell and go back in, which is what makes a straight swap at home possible. Other Leatt models, from the Moto 3.5 Jr to the ADV range, use their own interiors.
Five thicknesses to choose from
Leatt makes this pad in 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 mm. More foam fills more of the space between shell and cheek, so a thicker pad holds the face more tightly and a thinner one gives more room. That turns the range into a fitting tool as well as a spare. If the helmet has started to rock on your head after a season of riding, the same thickness as before brings back the original feel. If it always felt a touch loose or a touch tight at the cheeks, one step up or down changes that without buying a new helmet.
A simple rule of thumb: pads that press hard enough to hurt after twenty minutes are too thick, and pads that let the helmet turn when you shake your head are too thin.
Material and weight
The composition is 80 % sponge and 20 % fabric. A soft foam core sits under a perforated textile face that lets air and moisture move away from the skin. The pair weighs around 30 g, so swapping thicknesses does not change how the helmet feels on the neck.
Colour
The fabric is a dark grey, close to charcoal. Dark textile hides the dust and sweat marks that build up on lighter interiors during a muddy weekend.
Care
The comfort padding of the Moto 2.5 is hand-washable. Wash the pads in lukewarm water with a little mild soap, press the water out instead of wringing, and let them dry at room temperature before refitting. Radiator heat or a tumble dryer can shrink the fabric and harden the foam.
What you should know
- These pads fit the Leatt Moto 2.5 only.
- They come as a pair in one thickness; pick the thickness when you order.
- The number in the title, 4023070750, is the 20 mm version. Each thickness has its own part number, listed below.
- The pads belong to the emergency removal system of the helmet. Refit them exactly as the originals sat so they can still be pulled out after a crash.
