DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Yamaha MT-09 arrived in 2013 with a three-cylinder engine that made most of its rivals feel polite, and it has been turning up at track days ever since. It is light, it is cheap to run, and it encourages the kind of rider who books a day at a circuit they have never seen before. Accossato lists the MT-09 from 2013 to 2023 under the FC124, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl available in six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha MT-09, 2013 to 2023
  • Accossato lists the standard machine and the ABS version of 2014 to 2016
  • Machined entirely from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for opening and shutting the tank quickly
  • Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Pawl available separately as a spare
  • Check your machine against the application list before ordering
  • No German ABE documented; supplied for track use

Construction and Material Quality

All of the FC124 is aluminium worked on CNC machines, which Accossato offers as the reason to call it robust and durable; the styling is new. The part that does something is the quick-closing pawl, opening the MT-09's tank with one movement and securing it with another. Its pin holds the colour, chosen from blue, green, black, red, silver and gold at the time of ordering. Accossato also lists the pawl by itself, so a damaged one is a small replacement rather than a reason to buy a second cap.

A Circuit You Have Never Ridden

Arriving at an unfamiliar track changes the shape of the day. The first session is spent finding out where the corners actually go, the second is spent being wrong about at least two of them, and by the third the place starts to make sense. Because none of that is efficient riding, the tank empties faster than it does at a circuit you know, and the fuel stop tends to arrive earlier than planned. Work out before you set off where the refuelling area is and whether you need to bring your own supply. Then, when the MT-09 comes back in and the visor comes up, the stop is simply a job to be done rather than a hunt around an unfamiliar paddock.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's entries for the FC124 give the MT-09 900 from 2013 to 2023 and the ABS version from 2014 to 2016, which together are what this listing covers. In our shop the same cap also appears for the MT-09 SP, the MT-07 and the FZ8. Please compare your machine with the application list before ordering.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC124, so we supply it for closed circuits. The MT-09 keeps its factory cap for the road, which normally opens with the ignition key.
