Six Ducatis share the airbox of the 890 V2 engine, and Sprint Filter's standard element is catalogued for all six. This racing cloth is listed for five. The one left off is the DesertX V2, the machine built to leave tarmac, and the omission is the clearest statement the catalogue makes about what a rating of 15,000 l/m²/sec is for. A medium is specified against an environment, and the line was drawn just short of loose ground. The Multistrada V2 stands beside it, which makes it the model where the choice deserves most thought.
Key Features
- Polyester weave run dry throughout, without oil when delivered and none after cleaning
- Filtration at 85 µm with a rated flow of 15,000 l/m²/sec, the racing end of the range
- Measured retention 95.22 % of 100-micron particles, the P08 weave 93.13 %
- About twice the filtering area of other performance filters, in the standard frame
- Takes the place of the paper panel with no airbox work and no change to the fuelling
- Washed and reused rather than discarded; two-year warranty from purchase
Both ends of the range meet on this model
The Multistrada V2 also appears on the T12 list, the finest medium Sprint Filter makes at 7 µm and 560 l/m²/sec, where the Monster, Panigale and Streetfighter do not. One model is offered both the fastest-flowing cloth in the programme and the most restrictive — the catalogue admitting that two Multistradas lead different lives: one covering long tarmac stages two-up with luggage, the other its summer on gravel. Finer holds more back and passes less; more open does the opposite. Neither is the better filter, and the question here is which of those two bikes yours is.
What the racing weave costs, and when it pays
It asks a little over two and a quarter times what the standard element does, and buys headroom in one condition only: a large demand held for minutes rather than touched for seconds. Loaded touring at legal speeds never reaches it. Nor does any medium address what really governs this intake, which is volume: an element loads in proportion to the air that has passed it, so a bike covering a season's mileage in one summer reaches any given restriction sooner than the rest. And none of it adds power. A filter in an unmodified airbox does not make a standard Multistrada V2 noticeably stronger; what it gives is one intake resistance that can be restored on demand.
Care and cleaning
An air line held to the clean face and worked outward is the routine service for a PM279S F1-85; the dust leaves the way it came in. After wet or gritty stages, lukewarm water and mild soap release what air leaves behind; rinse until it runs clean. It dries in moving air and nothing else, because polyester is undone by heat long before a hand calls it hot, and it is fitted dry. The instructions are filed under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Multistrada V2 of 2025 and 2026, a direct replacement in the airbox. Five machines take this part number, one fewer than the standard element covers; each is listed with its model years in the Fitment tab.
