The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
The F3 675 stayed in MV Agusta's range for eleven model years, unusual for a supersport and with a consequence that has nothing to do with riding one. Most F3 675s on the road are now with a second or third keeper, and the intake tract is the one part of a motorcycle that a viewing never reveals. Paint, chain, tyres and discs can all be judged in a car park. What sits inside the airbox cannot be, and hardly any seller has ever been asked about it.
Key Features
- Dry polyester weave — nothing oiled, so nothing can travel downstream onto the sensors
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- 80 µm between the threads, with a rated flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Seats in the series airbox exactly where the factory panel sat
- Regenerated with compressed air rather than thrown away
- Built to last as long as the motorcycle, guaranteed for two years after purchase
Starting the clock again
A used F3 arrives with an unknown filter. It may have been changed last month, or it may be the one MV fitted, quietly loading for a decade while each owner assumed the previous one had dealt with it. Fitting CM135S ends that uncertainty in an afternoon: from then on the restriction in the intake is a known quantity, and it stays known, because the element is washed back to its starting condition rather than drifting away from it. None of this makes the bike faster — an insert element cannot — but it removes a variable no test ride will ever expose.
Eleven years under one heading
The catalogue keeps the F3 675 on a single line from 2011 to 2021, and that is accurate: through emissions revisions, electronics updates and a change of ownership at the factory, the airbox carried over untouched. It also means the part is ordered by machine and year rather than by the name on the tail unit, which matters here because MV listed an 800 cc F3 alongside it from 2017. Both take the same element; only the years separate the two entries.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air does most of it. Direct the line at the clean side and work outwards so dust exits the way it entered; on a woven medium that clears the surface properly instead of driving the load deeper. Twice a year, or after a filthy trip, warm water and a mild washing-up liquid are plenty, followed by rinsing that runs clear. Then let it dry in moving air and nothing else: heat sources and flames damage the polyester, and a damp element must not go back into the box. Refit dry, with nothing sprayed on. The maintenance sheet is filed in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the MV Agusta F3 675 built from 2011 to 2021, in the unmodified standard airbox. The Fitment tab names all eleven MV triples that share this element.
