Seven point three kilos. That is what the Spark GYA8880T removes from a Yamaha R1 — the standard exhaust weighs 10.8 kg, this one weighs 3.5 kg, and it is the largest saving in Spark's entire R1 programme. The collector is titanium, 65 mm in diameter, and it was developed with teams running the R1 in international championships.
Key Features
- Full titanium system with a D.65 titanium collector and the Konix Evo silencer.
- 3.5 kg against 10.8 kg standard — 7.3 kg removed.
- The lightest and the biggest weight saving Spark offers for the R1.
- Konix Evo: conical titanium case, sharp-edged, carbon end cap from a Maranello design studio.
- Visible weld seams on the connecting pipe, left on show deliberately.
- Fits the Yamaha R1 and R1M, 2015 to 2025.
Sixty-Five Millimetres
Spark's R1 range is organised by collector diameter, and the numbers are not marketing. The 3/4 kits come in D.54 and D.60; the full systems are D.65. A larger primary diameter moves the engine's torque peak up the rev range and raises the ceiling on what the top end can flow — which is why the full systems are the ones Spark develops with race teams rather than the ones it recommends for a road bike.
Going to D.65 also means replacing the headers, not just the section behind them. That is the whole reason a full system costs what it does and saves what it saves: the headers are a large part of the standard exhaust's 10.8 kg.
Welds as a Design Decision
Spark makes a point of this and it is worth repeating in their words: the welds, segments and cones on the connecting pipe are not simple aesthetic quibbles. A TIG-welded cone changes direction more efficiently than a bent tube of the same diameter, and each visible seam is where two calculated sections meet rather than where a pipe was persuaded around a corner.
Leaving them unpolished is a statement about who made the part. On a hand-welded system the bead is the signature, and Spark does not hide it.
Which Silencer, and Why It Matters
Spark is explicit about the noise hierarchy on this bike: the Force and Force Evo silencers stay within the decibel limit required by the French championship and the Endurance World Championship, while the MotoGP and Grid-O silencers sit above it. For this motorcycle Spark publishes the numbers: Force and Force Evo stay inside the 102 dB limit required by the French championship and the Endurance World Championship, and the Konix Evo fitted here is quoted at 107 dB — above that limit, below the MotoGP and Grid-O.
So if your series enforces 102 dB, this is not the configuration for it; GYA8881T with the Force Evo is. At 107 dB the Konix Evo matches what European Stock 1000 has required of Spark's Konix silencer. If it does not, the Konix Evo is the one that looks like it costs what it does.
Fitment & Compatibility
Yamaha R1 and R1M, 2015 through 2025, and the MT-10 and MT-10 SP, 2016 through 2026 — Spark lists this part for both. The same D.65 titanium collector is offered with the Moto GP silencer as GYA8850T and with the Grid-O as GYA8871T; the stainless-collector version with a Force Evo is GYA8881T at around five hundred euros less.
Road Approval
None. The system removes the catalytic converter and carries no EC certificate. It is built for closed circuits.
