DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Alpine Edition carries the Alps in its name, and the high passes are where many of these Tiger 1200s end up: long climbs through hairpins, a cold summit, then the long way down the other side. On roads like that the front brake is used far more for small corrections than for hard stops. Accossato's EDF014 for the Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition of 2020 and 2021 is machined from aluminium, mounts on the original master cylinder and has an adjustable reach.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition, 2020 and 2021
- Fits the original master cylinder of the Tiger 1200 series
- Reach adjustable at the hub
- Standard blade about 138 mm; long in blue, gold, green and orange, short also in silver
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised in two tones with a black hub
- Rigid blade, no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; offered for track use
Construction and Material Quality
In a single Alpine day, a lever can go from a warm valley floor to a summit where the air is close to freezing, and back again. An anodised part takes that in its stride. The EDF014 is shaped from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised, so its finish belongs to the metal instead of being a layer of paint that could crack or lift. The hub, which holds the pivot and the reach adjuster, is always black; the blade carries the colour. There is no hinge anywhere in the lever, just one stiff piece between hub and tip.
Sharing the Pass
The famous passes are rarely empty. On a summer weekend you share them with cyclists grinding up the hairpins, campervans feeling their way down, coaches that need both lanes in the tightest turns and riders on every kind of motorcycle. Much of the braking on an Alpine Edition therefore has nothing to do with emergencies. It is about matching your speed to someone slower, again and again, until a stretch of road opens up that is long and clear enough to pass. That rhythm goes better with the blade set close, so two fingers can rest on it through the blind sections and add a light touch without the hand changing its grip on the throttle. On the descent, let a lower gear do part of the work and brake firmly and briefly before each bend instead of dragging the lever all the way down the mountain. The brakes stay cooler, and the lever feels the same at the bottom of the pass as at the top.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the Tiger 1200 of 2018 to 2021 as a series, without splitting it into editions or equipment levels. Our garage works the other way round and knows each version by name, so the Alpine Edition has a product of its own, covering 2020 and 2021. On the Alpine Edition, as on the rest of the series, the lever fits the original master cylinder and replaces the stock part. The entry names no clutch lever to go with it.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for this lever on the Alpine Edition, and we sell it for the track.
