A first model year has no service history to inherit, which makes it the one moment when an owner decides how the motorcycle will be looked after rather than discovering how it was. Most of that decision is made by default: the first service comes around, a paper element goes in, and the pattern of buying the same disposable part every couple of years is set for the life of the bike. Fitting a Sprint Filter P08 PM111S at the start replaces that pattern with a different one — an element that is opened, blown through and put back, at the same restriction it had on the delivery ramp.

Nothing about the bike changes

This is a straight swap into the standard airbox. No cutting, no adapters, no remap, and no effect on homologation or on the warranty position of the motorcycle — the intake system stays the one the factory designed, with a different medium inside it. That matters more on a new machine than on an old one, because there is no appetite for grey areas on something still under manufacturer warranty. What changes is the medium: woven polyester with roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters, dry, and washable.

The first ten years, decided now

Sprint Filter build the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle. On a bike bought new that is not a slogan about durability so much as a description of the ownership arithmetic: one purchase, then a recurring ten-minute job with an air line instead of a recurring line on the invoice. Two years of warranty from the date of purchase cover the part itself. For a rider who intends to keep a 2026 Z1100 for a long time, this is the air filter conversation happening once instead of every service.

Care and cleaning

From the first service onwards the job is the same: compressed air from the clean side, blown outwards. For a deeper clean, lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then full drying in air — never with heat, never with a flame.
