Where It Sits
06162-05 is the 10 mm, 11 mm, 5 mm version — Öhlins lists each size separately. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. Öhlins builds the seat into the housing so the sealing face is machined, not pressed. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.
Original Öhlins Part
An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise.
How to Be Sure It Fits
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 06162-05 in this case. Check dimension a 10 mm, dimension b 11 mm, dimension c 5 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. Replacing a piston is a workshop job because the shim stack has to be rebuilt in the correct order.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
