The Flagship Specification
Semi-active Öhlins, forged wheels, carbon components and winglets derived from Aprilia's MotoGP programme. The Factory is the most thoroughly specified RSV4 and the standard cockpit components are correspondingly conspicuous.
Winglets Before the Class
Aprilia fitted aerodynamic appendages to a road superbike before most rivals had considered it. They work at circuit speeds and they came directly from a racing department that had been developing them for several seasons.
Cut for This Chassis
The RV suffix identifies a housing profiled for the RSV4 rather than for Aprilia's range generally. On a bike whose fairing was drawn around aerodynamics rather than access, that fit is worth the specificity.
One Assembly for Two Functions
Right-hand controls inside the throttle housing. Both are renewed together by this unit, machined from a single billet and using the motorcycle's own connector with no wiring change and nothing to code afterwards.
Where Precision Is Read
The throttle position sensor tracks the tube's rotation. A bore that is machined rather than cast holds its tolerance longer, and on a Factory being ridden at the limit the difference is felt at small openings. Aprilia calibrates the first fifteen degrees with particular care, because that is where a V4 with this much torque either drives out of a corner cleanly or lights the rear tyre. A sensor reading a tube with play in it reports a slightly different angle each time, and the electronics act on whatever they are told.
Four Finishes
Black, red, blue and titanium, converted into the surface. On a bike carrying carbon and gold suspension, titanium is the option that acknowledges both without competing with either.
Sealed Contacts
Sealed elements inside a one-piece milled body. Ingress rather than mechanical wear ends switchgear on a machine washed hot after every outing and stored between meetings. Contacts rarely fail by wearing out. They corrode after water has sat against them, and the fault then appears intermittently across a season before anyone connects it to the pressure washer.
