Titanium Rods, Öhlins Everywhere
The RR specification adds titanium connecting rods, a lightened crank, higher compression and Öhlins suspension front and rear, with electronic damping on the later examples. It is the F4 as MV would have built it without a price ceiling.
Two Hundred and One Horsepower
From a naturally aspirated 998 cc four with radial valves. The figure was competitive with anything on sale at the time and the delivery is peakier than a modern superbike's, which makes throttle precision more important rather than less.
Lettering Cut Into the Body
Machined before anodising, so it ages with the component rather than separating from it. That is the practical argument; whether the logo belongs on an F4 RR at all is a matter on which owners differ, and the plain version exists for the other view.
The First Ten Degrees
On an engine with this compression, corner exits are determined by how precisely the initial part of the throttle range can be metered. A machined bore and a shorter cam act on exactly that portion.
Mechanical and Reversible
Cable throttle, original cables retained, standard housing refits without trace. On a motorcycle that has stopped depreciating, that reversibility is the point.
Cast Versus Cut
MV's housing is cast with a moulded cover. Machining from billet produces a bore that is cut rather than formed, and the difference shows in how consistently the tube rotates after years rather than months.
