Cut for a Wide Bar
The M profile follows the cable geometry of a one-piece handlebar rather than a clip-on. It is a small difference and it decides whether the cables sit naturally at full lock.
Öhlins and M50 Calipers
The S specification brought fully adjustable Öhlins at both ends and Brembo's M50 monobloc brakes. On a 147 horsepower naked with a short wheelbase, both work harder than they would elsewhere.
Eleven Degrees
The Testastretta 11 degree name refers to the reduced valve overlap that made a racing engine tolerable in traffic. It is the change that turned Ducati twins into everyday motorcycles.
Throttle Assembly Only
The switch block is untouched. This covers the housing, which is the appropriate purchase when nothing electrical needs replacing.
Precision Over Time
A machined bore keeps the tube concentric where a moulded one gradually opens. Ride-by-wire means that consistency is what the engine's fuelling is built on.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the surface. On a Monster the bar is fully exposed and a coating simply does not last the way anodising does.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the yield strength of the 6000 series. It is the correct material for a component clamped around a handlebar for a decade.
A Frame From the Heads
The trellis bolts to the cylinder heads with the engine carrying structural load. It is an idea Ducati has used since the 1970s and the Monster is where it is most visible.
The Version to Buy
The S outsold the base 1200 comfortably because the suspension difference is obvious immediately. Second-hand it remains the one worth waiting for.
