A Hundred and Forty-Seven Horsepower
The 2017 revision brought the highest output any standard Monster carried, along with a reworked trellis and a lower seat. It remains the fastest of the twin-cylinder Monsters.
Cornering ABS
Ducati added a Bosch inertial platform, which on a naked bike with this much torque is more useful than it is on a superbike. Unfamiliar roads are where it earns its place.
Every Setting on the Left
Modes, traction, ABS levels and the display. On a bike ridden daily, this block sees several times the operations the right-hand one does and shows it first.
Black, Red or Titanium
Each grown into the top layer of the aluminium. A Monster's bar is one of the most visible parts of the motorcycle and there is nothing here to chip.
Sealed Elements
Enclosed within a body cut from one block. Rain reaches a Monster's controls directly at road speed and stays there for the whole journey.
Junctions, Constantly
The indicator switch alone is worked dozens of times before breakfast on a bike used in traffic. No superbike control approaches that duty cycle.
Eleven Degrees of Overlap
The reduced valve timing is what turned a superbike engine into something civilised below three thousand revs. Without it the Monster 1200 would be undriveable in a city.
Ergal 7075
Roughly twice as strong as ordinary machined aluminium. On a naked bike parked on city streets, a low-speed drop is a matter of when rather than whether.
Nothing Cut
Pre-wired to the factory connector. Two fasteners and a plug, and the loom stays exactly as Ducati assembled it.
