The Update Reached the Tuono Too
Aprilia gave the naked bike the same six-axis platform and revised controls as the superbike. It kept the 1077 cc engine and the wide bars, which is what people bought it for in the first place.
Cornering ABS Without a Fairing
Lean-angle-aware braking matters more on a bike that is ridden on unfamiliar roads than on one that circulates a known circuit. The Tuono is the machine in Aprilia's range that meets the most unpredictable surfaces.
A Hundred and Twenty-One Newton Metres
The enlarged V4 produces its torque across a genuinely wide band. On a naked bike with upright bars that is the number that describes the experience, rather than the peak power figure underneath it.
The 2017 Block
This part number covers the revised control layout. Tuonos built before the update take the earlier unit, and the two are not compatible in either direction despite a strong family resemblance.
Weather at the Bar
Nothing deflects anything on a Tuono. Water arrives at the block at road speed, works into any joint it finds and stays there, which is precisely what a one-piece machined body denies it.
Two Finishes
Black and titanium, both anodised into the metal. Neither has printing to fade, which on a bike parked outside through the summer is worth more than the initial appearance.
Aprilia's Plug
Pre-wired, so nothing is cut. The swap is mechanical and takes about fifteen minutes with the bar end off.
The One People Actually Ride
The Tuono covers commutes, weekends and the occasional long day in a way the RSV4 never pretends to. That means more junctions, more rain and more hours with a hand on this block than any superbike in the range will see in its life.
