The JP ACC KT016 shortens the 790 Adventure R's throttle rotation to sixty degrees, which is the difference between reaching full opening comfortably and running out of wrist.

Longer Travel
The R adds serious suspension and drops the electronic assistance a notch, aimed at riders who intend to leave the road rather than admire it from the tarmac.
The Original Refits
Everything comes off the bar the way it went on, and the standard assembly goes back with the same reset procedure. Nothing about the change is permanent.
Free Play
A standard assembly develops a small dead zone at the closed position with age. A machined one starts without it and keeps it that way.
Corner Exit
Opening from closed to wide on a fast exit is where the shorter sweep pays. The hand does it in one movement instead of two.
Nothing Is Cut
No wire is stripped, no connector replaced and no bracket modified. The change is entirely mechanical with one plug moved across.
Riding Position Comes First
Bar height, lever angle and grip diameter all affect how a throttle feels. Changing the assembly before those are right solves the wrong problem.
Nothing Structural
The assembly clamps to a handlebar and carries no load beyond the rider's hand. Its removal affects nothing about the steering or the controls.
The First Ride
Somewhere open, quiet and dry. Open it deliberately half a dozen times from a settled position and let the hand recalibrate. The adjustment takes an afternoon rather than a season, but the first corners genuinely feel abrupt and traffic is the wrong place to find that out.
After a Fall
A bar end takes the impact in most low-speed drops, and a machined body generally survives what breaks a moulded one. That is a side effect of the construction rather than a reason to buy it.
