Hot Washing, Every Outing
An R lives at circuits and meets a pressure washer twenty minutes after each session. Sealed elements inside a machined body remove the joint the jet was finding.
Settings That Move All Weekend
Traction, engine braking and map change between every run as tyres, fuel load and track temperature do. This block carries all of those inputs.
Beyond Road Specification
Military-grade contacts, because a competition motorcycle sees conditions no road bike encounters. It is a margin bought deliberately rather than a marketing claim.
Rebuilt Between Rounds
An R gets stripped as routine. A body cut from solid takes that indefinitely where a moulded one with snap fittings stops holding after a few cycles.
Reversible for a Collector
Nothing spliced anywhere. On a homologation special that will eventually be sold to somebody who cares about originality, that matters considerably.
Four Finishes
Black, red, titanium and copper. On an R carrying carbon and titanium throughout, the titanium option disappears into the specification entirely.
Built to a Rulebook
The R exists so Ducati can race the Panigale in World Superbike. Its 998 cc capacity, its internals and its aerodynamics are all answers to regulations.
Two Hundred and Forty Horsepower
With the full racing kit fitted. The road figure is lower and nobody who buys an R leaves the standard exhaust on it for very long.
Titanium Connecting Rods
Nothing conventional survives 16.500 rpm for a season. The R's internals exist because of that ceiling rather than because they sound impressive in a brochure.
Aerodynamics Developed for Racing
The R's winglets were designed for the World Superbike machine and produce measurable load well below its top speed rather than only at the very top of fifth gear. On a motorcycle with this much power the problem being solved is keeping the front wheel loaded under acceleration, and the solution arrived on the road bike because the rules required it to.
