The JP CJP 012B gives a track-prepared Monster 797 a fuel map that can follow the fuel, the weather and the exhaust rather than being fixed at the factory.

Air Cooled and Simple
The 797 uses the old two-valve engine, which makes it the least complicated Monster Ducati sold in that decade and the easiest to work on.
A Dyno Is Not Compulsory
Plenty of owners map on a road with a wideband and a logger. A dyno makes it faster and repeatable, and it is the difference between a good map and a defensible one.
Resolution Matters
A map with too few cells forces the unit to interpolate across large gaps, and the engine feels it. Enough resolution is what makes small, local corrections possible at all.
An Honest Warning
Bought without a wideband, a plan and some patience, this unit will sit in a motorcycle doing nothing while the owner tells people it made a difference.

The physical product. Everything expensive about it is the software and the development behind the harness for each motorcycle.
Rich Has a Cost Too
Washed bores, fouled plugs and wasted fuel. The target is correct rather than generous, which is another reason the wideband is not optional.
If Something Feels Wrong
Write the empty map back and ride the same road. Ten minutes settles whether the unit is responsible, which is a diagnostic luxury a reflash does not give.
Gear-Dependent Behaviour
The map has no gear axis. What feels different in first and sixth is load, and the map already accounts for that if the load axis is set up correctly.
What a Session Actually Looks Like
A quiet road or a dyno, a laptop connected, a wideband reading logged, one region of the map adjusted, then the same run repeated to see whether the number moved. Three or four rounds of that fill an evening.
