The JP ES 007 plugs into the Hypermotard 939 where Ducati's secondary air valve did, presenting the winding resistance the controller measures before it decides anything is wrong.

Wet, which is respectable for a supermoto with this much engine and light enough that the Hypermotard remains genuinely playful.
After a Termignoni
A racing system removes the restriction that was muffling the reaction. Owners fit the exhaust, hear the crackle and assume the exhaust caused it.
Only the Electrical Half
The reed assembly stays on the cylinder head until a cover replaces it. Ducati splits the system in two and the aftermarket follows.
A Very Common Complaint
Owners describe it as popping, backfiring or crackling, and it is the single most discussed characteristic of a modern Ducati with an open pipe.
Where the Time Goes
Fifteen minutes to get the bodywork off carefully, two minutes to swap the connector, fifteen minutes to put everything back. The ratio is typical.
Torque and Patience
Nothing here is tight and nothing needs force. Fasteners into aluminium or plastic are easy to overtighten and that is the commonest damage done.
What Happens With Nothing Fitted
The panel carries a warning from the next start and keeps it. The motorcycle runs perfectly, and the only consequence is a lamp that cannot be cleared.
What Happens If You Simply Unplug It
The controller pulses the circuit within seconds of the ignition coming on, finds nothing, stores a fault and lights the panel. From then on the warning sits there permanently and any later fault arrives behind it, invisible until somebody plugs in a diagnostic tool and reads the memory properly. That is the practical reason a passive resistance is worth the money over an empty connector.
Fitted at a Service, Not Between Ones
The tank has to come off for several routine jobs, and the eliminator takes twenty minutes once it is off. Doing this at the same time as a filter, a coolant change or a set of belts is straightforward; doing it on its own is an evening spent almost entirely on bodywork.
