A Supermoto With a V-Twin
Aprilia built the Dorsoduro around an 896 cc ninety degree twin making 95 hp, in a chassis with long travel and a wide bar. It is a format almost nobody else attempted at this size and it has no real successor.
Ride-by-Wire Since 2008
The Dorsoduro's engine family carried full electronic throttle control from its first generation, when that was still unusual on a production motorcycle. Aprilia was several years ahead of the rest of the market on this.
Why a Quick Action Suits It
Supermoto riding involves large, fast throttle movements between corners. Shortening the rotation removes a hand adjustment from every one of them, which is the sort of change that shows up within a single ride.
An Extra Block
The throttle kit generally takes the original switch mounting with it. This unit goes on alongside and gives the functions a home, wired to Aprilia's own connector.
Titanium Only
One anodised finish, converted into the aluminium. It is a functional part rather than a decorative one and it sits with the quick-action hardware it accompanies.
Nothing Protects the Bar
A supermoto offers its controls no shelter whatsoever. Rain, road spray and dust reach the block directly, which is why the elements inside are sealed to a military rather than an automotive standard.
Machined, Not Moulded
Cut from Ergal 7075 on a machine. The mounting stays rigid under a gloved hand, which on a bike ridden standing up through rough sections is worth more than it sounds.
Reversible
Pre-wired to the original plug with nothing spliced. The conversion can be undone completely, which matters on a model that has become sought after second hand.
