DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Yamaha V-MAX, the rear brake is a useful tool for moving a heavy cruiser around at low speed: easing it through traffic, balancing it in slow turns and bringing it to a smooth halt at a junction. Accossato lists its AGPP121 rear pad for the V-MAX of 2009 to 2018, and this listing is the Organic (OR) compound. It is intended for riders who use the V-MAX as a road bike and want a quiet, easily controlled rear brake and long-lasting discs.
Key Features
- AGPP121 rear pad in Organic (OR) compound
- For the Yamaha V-MAX, 2009 to 2018
- Soft, controllable response on the pedal
- Accossato: long performance and limited disc wear
- Quiet operation in urban riding
- One box covers the rear caliper
- Also made in ST
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato says its Organic compound provides longer-lasting performance and limits disc wear. For the rear brake of a cruiser, which is used often but rarely very hard, that combination suits normal road use.
Low-Speed Balance
Moving a heavy V-MAX slowly is a skill. Experienced riders drag the rear brake lightly while holding a small amount of throttle, which stabilises the bike in tight turns and in slow traffic. An organic rear pad makes this easier because it responds gently and progressively to small movements of the pedal. It is also quiet, which is noticeable when rolling slowly through town. Because it is gentle on the disc, the rear disc of a V-MAX used this way should stay in good condition for longer.
Choosing Between OR and ST
If you ride the V-MAX in rain often or carry a passenger regularly, ST is the other option for this pad. For dry, everyday road riding, OR is the natural choice.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPP121 for the V-MAX (VMX 1700) from 2009 to 2018, with AGPA36 as the front pad. The rear has a single caliper, so one box is enough. Clean the caliper pistons before retracting them, check the rear disc for wear and scoring and inspect the fluid. After fitting, pump the pedal until it is firm, then bed the pads in with several gentle stops.
Road Approval
No German ABE or test mark is on file for this rear pad. It is offered for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
