DescriptionThe whole story▼
The CB1100EX is a motorcycle for people who still enjoy a bucket, a sponge and an hour on a Sunday morning. Wire wheels take time to clean, deep paint rewards the effort, and an air-cooled four with its fins on show is the kind of engine that makes the work feel worthwhile. The oil filler sits in the middle of all that, usually as the one plain part in a carefully finished picture. Accossato's FP004 replaces it in aluminium, thread M20x2.5, anodised in eight colours.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Honda CB1100EX, 2014 to 2018
- M20x2.5 thread as stated by Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also suits other machines with the same filler size
- Silver, titanium and black for a restrained look
- No German ABE available; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato works in aluminium here, shaping the FP004 on CNC machines and colouring it afterwards in an anodising bath, so the finish is part of the metal rather than a film over it. Eight colours are offered. On a CB1100EX the restrained end of that range tends to win: silver and titanium sit naturally alongside polished and brushed surfaces, black disappears entirely, and gold has a long association with motorcycles of this character. The thread is M20x2.5, the only measurement Accossato publishes and the one that governs fit, with the maker noting that machines beyond its list can use the cap if their filler matches.
An Hour on a Sunday Morning
Add the oil check to the cleaning routine and it stops being a chore in its own right. The engine has to be cold, so do it before the water and the sponge come out rather than after a ride, and put the CB1100EX in the position the owner's manual sets down while you read the level. Wipe the area around the filler before opening it; on an air-cooled engine there are fins and edges nearby that hold dust, and none of it should find its way inside. Check the thread and the sealing face, on the cap and in the cover, and clean them if there is anything there. Where oil is needed, add it in stages with the grade named in the handbook and look again between each addition. The FP004 goes in by hand, turned until it seats, and that is all the tightening it wants. After the next ride, a look underneath completes the job: the casing should be dry, and on a bike kept as well as this one usually is, anything else would be noticed immediately.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the CB1100EX, Accossato's application list runs from 2014 to 2018. The M20x2.5 thread decides the fit, so other motorcycles using that filler size can take the same cap, and at Inter-Pace it is also listed for the Monster 795, the DesertX and the Hypermotard 821. If the engine cover on your machine is not the original, or carries a cap someone else chose, compare the thread before ordering.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test marking for the FP004 in our documents, which is why we list it for racing and competition purposes.
