DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1199 Panigale S belongs to the generation with which Ducati began the Panigale story, built around the Superquadro twin and a monocoque frame, and the S added electronically adjustable suspension. Owners often reach a point on track days where the intermediate group starts to feel slow and the fast group beckons. The step up changes more than lap times: it changes the rhythm of the whole day, refuelling included. For the 1199 Panigale S of 2014 and 2015, Accossato lists the FC105, a quick-release filler cap machined entirely from aluminium.
Key Features
- Fuel tank cap with quick release for the Ducati Panigale 1199 S, 2014 and 2015
- Entirely CNC-machined aluminium, robust and durable according to Accossato
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Pin colours: silver, gold, black, red, blue, green
- Spare pawl sold separately
- New design by Accossato
- Check against Accossato's application list before ordering
- For track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
The FC105 is made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, and Accossato describes the cap as robust and durable. Its lines are a new design rather than a reworking of the Ducati part. The working element is the quick-closing pawl, which turns opening the tank of the 1199 Panigale S and closing it again into a matter of moments. The pin on the pawl can be ordered in six colours. Should the pawl be damaged, for instance when the bike slides into the gravel, Accossato sells it individually, so there is no need for a whole new cap.
Moving Up to a Faster Group
Organisers usually let riders change group once they are clearly quicker than the others around them, and on a 1199 Panigale S that moment can come sooner than expected. The faster group brings a different day. Sessions are ridden hard from the first lap, the bike burns more fuel in the same time, and the breaks feel shorter because riders spend them recovering, drinking and adjusting the suspension. Plan the fuel accordingly. Instead of waiting for the warning light, top up at fixed points, for example before the first session, at lunch and in the middle of the afternoon, so that no session starts on a nearly empty tank. Keep the can and the funnel beside the bike rather than in the van. Switch off, let the Panigale stand on its paddock stands, open the pawl, pour, close, and check the cap by hand before the helmet goes back on. A routine that runs the same way every time leaves your head free for braking points and lines.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the FC105 covers the 1199 Panigale S with ABS in 2014 and 2015. We list the same cap for the 1199 Panigale R, the Panigale V4 and the Scrambler 1100 as well. Please compare your bike with the application list before ordering. Change caps with the engine cold and the bike on its stands, watch the seal as it seats on the filler, and check for dampness after the first fill.
Road Approval
The FC105 has no German ABE and no documented expert report, so we supply it for closed circuits. The 1199 Panigale S leaves the factory with a cap that normally locks, and that one stays on for road riding; a swap for public roads is not straightforward.
