Two point four kilos. That is the entire exhaust system — collector, pipe and silencer — against 8,5 kg of standard Yamaha steel. Spark builds it in titanium end to end, calls it a Special Edition, and makes it only when someone orders one.
Key Features
- Full titanium racing system for the Yamaha MT-09, XSR 900 and Tracer 900 / GT, 2013 to 2020.
- Titanium collector, titanium 3-into-1 section and titanium Grid-O silencer.
- 2,4 kg against 8,5 kg standard: 6,1 kg removed from the motorcycle.
- 109,5 dB at 5.000 rpm, against 93 dB standard.
- Special Edition — built to order rather than held in stock.
- No road approval; closed-circuit use only.
Six Kilos Off a 190-Kilo Motorcycle
The first-generation MT-09 weighs a little over 190 kg with fuel. Taking 6,1 kg out of it in one component is roughly three per cent of the whole machine, and it leaves from the worst possible place for handling: high, rearward and outboard.
There is no clever way to describe what that does. It is simply the largest single weight saving available on this motorcycle, and everything Spark sells for the platform sits below it: 4,2 kg for GYA8870T, 5,3 kg for the approved system.
Titanium All the Way Forward
The other racing system in the range uses a stainless collector with a titanium pipe behind it. This one is titanium from the cylinder head back. That is where the extra 1,8 kg goes and it is also where most of the extra cost sits, because a titanium collector is harder to form, harder to weld and less forgiving of a mistake than a stainless one.
The welds are left visible and unpolished across every joint. Spark quotes the YouTuber Noisy Boy on them, and the praise is specifically about the welding rather than the performance — which tells you what the people who look closely at this system react to.
Built to Order
Spark marks this code as available on demand only. It is not a shelf item, and a Special Edition run is not the same as a catalogue product: expect a lead time, and expect it to be confirmed rather than promised. Ask us before you plan a build around it.
The Sound Is the Racing One
109,5 dB at 5.000 rpm, the same figure Spark publishes for its other racing system on this platform, against 93 dB standard. That number, and not the weight, is the reason there is no certificate.
What You Give Up
Everything a road exhaust does. No catalytic converter, no approval, no quiet start on a Sunday morning. Spark's approved GYA8862TOM exists for riders who need those things and is 800 euro cheaper.
This article is for a machine that has stopped being transport — a track bike, a build, or an MT-09 that lives among other motorcycles rather than in traffic.
Fitment & Compatibility
Yamaha MT-09, XSR 900 and Tracer 900 / Tracer 900 GT, 2013 to 2020. The stainless-collector racing system is GYA8870T at 1.726 euro; the Euro 4 approved system is GYA8862TOM at 1.404 euro.
Road Approval
None. Spark lists this system as not approved. It is built for closed-circuit use and must not be fitted to a motorcycle ridden on public roads.
