Size chart MT Helmets Braker SV
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Head circumference (inch) |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm | 20.9–21.3 in |
| S | 55–56 cm | 21.7–22.0 in |
| M | 57–58 cm | 22.4–22.8 in |
| L | 59–60 cm | 23.2–23.6 in |
| XL | 61–62 cm | 24.0–24.4 in |
| XXL | 63–64 cm | 24.8–25.2 in |
| XXXL | 65–66 cm | 25.6–26.0 in |

How to measure your helmet size correctly: Measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure around the widest part of the head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. Measure 2–3 times and compare the value in centimetres with the chart. For values between two sizes, usually choose the larger size.
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without uncomfortable pressure points. A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

Same drawings, different world. Blackboard B5 takes the collage from the white version and pours colour into it — orange, yellow, cyan and red blocks behind the black line art, on a grey and black shell. It is the loudest helmet in our Braker range and the one that repays being looked at closely.
About the Blackboard B5 graphic
The base alternates matt grey and black. Over it the Blackboard collage runs in solid black line work, but here the panels behind it are filled: a large orange field across the flank, yellow blocks at the crown and lower edge, cyan and red shapes breaking up the rear. BRAKER SV BLACKBOARD is lettered along the tail.
Filling a line-art graphic is harder than it looks. Every colour has to be registered to the black plate or the whole thing reads as a printing error — which is why most helmets in this class stick to two-colour schemes.
It also changes what the helmet does in traffic. The white Blackboard is a quiet helmet that rewards a close look; this one announces itself from a distance, because a large saturated orange field against grey is exactly the kind of contrast a driver's peripheral vision resolves before it resolves any detail. If you want the drawings and you also want to be seen, this is the version that does both.
MT-QVSS, and the case for changing screens
The MT-QVSS mechanism is MT's patented two-button quick release. The screen comes off and clicks back on in seconds, with gloves on, without tools.
The reason to care is not that visor changes are frequent. It is that they are rare — and a mechanism that requires a screwdriver and a table turns a five-minute job into one you postpone for a season. The most common serious visor problem is not breakage; it is a scratched screen someone kept using because replacing it was inconvenient.
Pinlock: prepared, not supplied
The MT-V-28B screen is drilled and pinned for Pinlock DKS435, and also takes the FogOff FOG010.
The insert is not in the box. This is worth budgeting for if you ride outside summer. A Pinlock is a second lens sealed to the visor with a silicone bead; the trapped air between the two layers keeps the inner surface above dew point. It is the only thing that reliably beats fogging at a standstill, because no ventilation system works when you are not moving.
A nose deflector is fitted
MT supplies the nasal deflector as standard on the Braker SV. It redirects your exhaled breath downwards instead of letting it run up the inside of the visor.
In mild weather it is enough on its own. Below about 5 °C it stops being enough, and that is where the Pinlock earns its money.
Where this helmet sits
The Braker SV is MT's entry to sport-touring, positioned below the Thunder 4 SV and sharing its development approach. HIRP shell, roughly 1,525 g, ECE 22.06 plus DOT.
The specification is the point: drop-down sun visor, tool-free screen mechanism, three intakes, spoiler with exhaust, intercom mount, nose deflector. Five years ago that list belonged two price classes up.
The current standard, briefly
ECE 22.06 has been mandatory since January 2024. It tests 18 impact points instead of the 22.05's five, at multiple speeds, adds an oblique impact against a rough anvil for rotational loading, and imposes a Brain Injury Criterion limit. MT also holds DOT for this model.
Sun visor
A single-action drop-down shade operated by one slider on the shell.
An internal shade is the feature that turns a good-weather helmet into an all-day one. It costs nothing to carry, cannot be left at home, and is out of the way the moment you go into a tunnel.
Ventilation and spoiler
Three intakes, and an integrated rear spoiler hiding the exhaust. The spoiler also does aerodynamic work: behind a fairing screen the air is turbulent, and a helmet with a tail is measurably steadier there than one without.
Retention and interior
The closure is MT-Micrometric+; the lining is fully removable and washable and has pockets for the speakers of a universal UCS intercom.
Wash the lining by hand and let it dry away from radiators. Heat is what makes helmet foam go hard and lose its shape, and a pad that has been dried on a heater never sits the same again.
Sizing and replacement
Measure your head at its widest point, roughly 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and take that circumference to the table below. If you land between two sizes, buy the smaller one: new cheek pads compress a few millimetres within the first hours of riding, so a helmet that starts slightly firm ends up correct while one that starts comfortable ends up loose.
Check the fit by putting a hand on the crown and turning. The skin of your forehead should move with the helmet. If the helmet turns and your scalp does not, it is too big — no strap setting fixes that, because retention holds a helmet on, not in place.
Two triggers decide when it is finished. After any impact, immediately, however undamaged it looks: the EPS liner works by crushing, it does not spring back, and a compressed area is not visible from outside. And after roughly five years of use regardless of condition — the foam and the adhesives age whether you ride or not.
What it does not have
- No independent safety rating. No SHARP entry, no ADAC and no Snell result exists for this model.
- No Pinlock insert included.
- No smoked visor included.
- Colours in strong pigments — orange and yellow are the least UV-stable in any paint shop. Store the helmet out of direct sun and it will hold its saturation for years.
In the box
- MT Braker SV helmet — Blackboard B5, grey and black with orange, yellow and cyan
- Protective bag, user manual and MT Helmets stickers
- Nose deflector and clear MT-V-28B fitted; Pinlock DKS435 sold separately.
