DescriptionThe whole story▼

A naked bike shows its steering head to anyone who walks past, not only to the rider. On the M 1000 R the top yoke sits in the open between the bar clamps, surrounded by M details, and the steering stem nut is the one part in the middle that BMW left plain. The Gilles ACMA fills that gap.

Key Features

  • M28 x 1.0 thread
  • Not for rear wheel or swingarm axles (Gilles)
  • Colours: black, blue or red
  • Designed exclusively as a steering head nut
  • Aluminium 7075, anodised
  • No registration required, according to Gilles

SM99 and SN99

Gilles lists the nut for the first M 1000 R from 2022 and for the revised SN99 from 2025. Blue or red take up the M stripes on the bodywork, black keeps the look quiet. The part is milled from 7075 alloy, and the colour is anodised, not painted.

Road Approval

No registration required, says Gilles: the ACMA replaces the nut on the BMW M1000R's top yoke without an inspection and without a change to the vehicle documents.

Scope of Delivery

A single ACMA nut in aluminium 7075, thread M28 x 1.0, colour as selected.

Fitting

Use a torque wrench and the value from the service manual. Gilles designed the ACMA for the steering head only; it must not go on a wheel or swingarm axle.
