DescriptionThe whole story▼
Six point eight newton metres at 2,900 rpm. On a big V-twin adventure bike that is the number that counts — an engine that pulls from just under three thousand revs is what makes a Pan America easy on a loose climb, and this pipe adds nearly seven newton metres exactly there.
Key Features
- 0.59 kg where Harley's standard part weighs 2.51 — 76.5 per cent gone
- 6.8 Nm more at 2,900 rpm and 3.7 hp more at 9,000
- Removes the standard pre-muffler entirely
- Stainless steel, and no remapping needed
- For EU specification machines only
- It ends the EC and ECE approval of the titanium slip-on
- Closed course competition use only
Two Conditions, Both Hard
First: this pipe fits EU specification Pan Americas only. Akrapovic states that it was developed and tested on the European version and does not fit non-EU models. A machine imported from the United States is a different bike underneath.
Second: fitting it invalidates the EC and ECE type approval of the Slip-On Line (Titanium) it goes with. That slip-on is road legal on its own. With this pipe behind it, the exhaust is a track part.
Where Nearly Two Kilograms Hides
The standard link pipe carries a pre-muffler — a chamber ahead of the main silencer that takes the edge off the noise before it gets there. Removing it takes the assembly from 2.51 kg to 0.59.
That is 76.5 per cent, and it is also where all the extra noise comes from: static noise rises from 91.3 dB to 98.6 at 3,800 rpm. Seven decibels is a substantial change, and the pre-muffler was doing exactly the job it was designed for.
No Remap
Akrapovic states that no ECU remapping is required. That is unusual for a part that deletes a section of the exhaust, and it is worth having: no dyno booking, no specialist, and the bike runs correctly the moment the work is finished.
A V-Twin, Not a Superbike Motor
The Revolution Max 1250 makes 148 PS standard and this pipe takes it to 151.4, with the gain read at 9,000 rpm. On a 245 kg adventure bike three and a half horsepower at the top is not why anyone buys this.
The torque is. Akrapovic places the largest gain at 2,900 rpm, which is where a loaded Pan America actually works, and that is the honest reason to fit it.
What It Needs Alongside
The pipe is designed around the Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) for this motorcycle. That silencer is a separate purchase, and the figures on this page describe the pair working together.
An Hour
Sixty minutes of workshop time. The pipe sits between the headers and the silencer, so both ends have to come apart, but there is no fabrication and no adaptation.
Two Model Names
The part covers the Pan America 1250 and the 1250 Special from 2021 to 2024. The two differ in suspension and equipment, not in the exhaust route.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use, and it removes the approval the slip-on carried.
