DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale V4 R is the version Ducati built to take its Superbike effort racing, and everything about it is sharpened for that: a shorter-stroke engine that wants revs, aerodynamic appendages either side of the fairing, and a chassis set up for a circuit. Ridden on a Sunday morning back road, none of that gets near its working range, least of all the front brake. Accossato presses the AGPA106 front pad in the Sintered material for this machine, article AGPA106ST, listed from 2019 to 2024 and credited with a constant grip level whether the discs are cold or hot, and with holding on when they are wet.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Panigale V4 R, 2019 to 2024
- Article AGPA106ST: the AGPA106 pad pressed in the Sintered material
- Accossato quotes one grip level across a wide temperature span
- Wet discs are named in the maker's own description
- Of interest where the discs never reach circuit temperatures
- Two calipers on the front wheel, so two boxes for a full change
- One box, two pads, one caliper
- No German ABE in our records; sold as a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato promises for the Sintered material is a grip level that does not depend on how hard the last few bends were. That claim reads differently on a machine like this one. A racing-derived bike being ridden at legal speeds gives its front brake gentle, infrequent work, and a compound that wants heat before it does anything useful is exactly the wrong companion for that. The carrier is the standard AGPA106, shared with every other suffix, so the pads occupy the front calipers of a Panigale V4 R in the usual way, whichever material has been chosen.
Road Pace Never Warms Them Through
Owners of an R quickly discover the mismatch. The engine is happiest in a place the road will not allow, the seat asks for a body position that country lanes rarely justify, and the brakes spend a whole ride barely getting warm. Between two villages you might use them twice, gently, and then a deer steps out and the pads are asked for everything they have from a standing temperature. That, not the flat-out lap, is the situation that decides whether a compound suits the way a particular V4 R is actually used.
The workshop side of a rarely ridden machine has its own traps. Pads that sit unused for months can bond lightly to a disc that has been left damp, so the first movement of the season is worth making slowly in a straight line. Look over both front calipers rather than one, since a bike that stands still often has one piston stickier than the rest, and keep the disc faces clean of anything oily that has migrated during storage. Work the lever until it is hard before the Panigale V4 R leaves the garage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Important: this pad fits the Panigale V4 R up to the 2024 model only. From 2025 the bike uses a different front caliper and needs a different pad. Accossato lists the AGPA106 at the front of the Panigale V4 R for the seasons 2019 to 2024, with the 998 version named in the same entry. Each of the two front calipers takes one box, so a complete change means two. At the rear the catalogue offers the AGPA42, whose entry for this bike stops at 2024, and the disc side of the programme lists the DKS036. The standard V4 and the V2 are covered by separate entries with different year spans.
Road Approval
We have no ABE for this article and no German test documentation, so it is supplied for competition and closed-course use rather than for the public road.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA106 pads in the Sintered material, the set for a single front caliper. The Panigale V4 R has two, so order accordingly.
