DescriptionThe whole story▼

Aprilia named the Dorsoduro 750 after one of the six districts of Venice, not far from its own home in Noale, and built the supermoto-styled twin from 2008 to 2016. Many of these bikes are now maintained by their owners at home, and a broken front brake lever is one of the jobs that needs no workshop at all. Accossato's AGD13 was made for exactly that situation: a silver replacement lever in the shape of the original, for the Dorsoduro 750 with or without ABS.

Key Features

  • Replacement front brake lever for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 2008 to 2016
  • Listed for the ABS and the non-ABS model
  • Original shape; Accossato calls it an original spare parts type
  • Silver, as on Accossato's list for this bike
  • Right-hand lever for the front brake
  • Made, Accossato says, by a process that improves resistance after damage or collisions
  • Supplied as a single lever
  • No German ABE documented; offered for track use

Construction and Material Quality

There is little to add to what Accossato says about the AGD13, and we prefer to keep to that. The company classes it as an original spare parts type, meaning a lever modelled on the one fitted to the Dorsoduro 750 at the factory, and it developed the range to be good value rather than to change how the brake feels. It also says that the method by which the lever is manufactured makes it more resistant after a knock or a crash. The version for this bike is silver.

Changing the Lever at Home

On the Dorsoduro 750 the job takes about as long as a cup of coffee, and the hydraulic system stays closed throughout. Put the bike securely on a stand, undo the pivot bolt and lift the old lever away. Clean the bolt and the bore it turns in, then give both a thin film of grease, so the new lever moves freely and does not wear the bore. Fit the AGD13 so that it pushes the master cylinder piston cleanly, with the small amount of free play the handbook asks for; a lever that presses on the piston at rest can make the brake drag. Now switch on the ignition and pull the lever gently: the brake light should come on straight away. Finally, squeeze the lever several times with the bike standing still. The pressure point should be firm and in the same place each time before you ride.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGD13 for every Dorsoduro 750 from 2008 to 2016, regardless of whether it has ABS. The left-hand lever of the same bike is a separate part, the AGS16, also silver and also in original shape, and the two are easy to tell apart: brake on the right, clutch on the left. The AGD13 is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Shiver 750 and the Mana 850 as well. For a different lever altogether, Accossato's CNC brake lever EDF023 is listed for the Dorsoduro 750.

Road Approval

For the AGD13 we have neither a German ABE nor any other test document, so we sell it for use on closed circuits and in competition.
