Sprint Filter's other two Zontes housings each stretch across three engine sizes. This one does not stretch at all: five machines are listed against it and every single one is a 368, built across the same pair of model years. The familiar way of reading a fitment list — the element sized around the largest engine on it, the smaller ones quietly inheriting the headroom — has nothing to grip here. All five ask the box for the same volume of air.

Five bodies, one appetite

Zontes separates the 368D from its four relatives by bodywork, riding position, chassis and calibration. None of that reaches the airbox, which is why a single code covers the lot. That is worth knowing in a practical way: intake advice picked up from the owner of a different 368 is not advice about a different intake. Same box, same opening, same element. Where two owners disagree about how often it wants attention, they are describing their roads and not their machines.

So the road is what decides

With the engine removed as a variable, what is left is the air, and geography answers that better than any data sheet. The catalogue says as much for this housing: alongside the P08 sits a fine nonwoven for dusty going, 14 µm at 1,800 l/m²/sec, listed for four of the five bikes. Finer cloth stops more and passes less — a trade, never a ranking. The weave described here belongs where sealed tarmac, mixed weather and the odd circuit day all stay plausible on one machine. It will not add power to a standard 368; no drop-in element can. It keeps intake restriction low and, more usefully, keeps it near that figure instead of letting it drift away unreported.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air, directed from the clean face outwards, sends the collected load back out the way it came in, and for most services that is the whole job. Insect residue and road film need lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the run-off is clear. Drying is slow and cold: moving air only, never a heat gun, a radiator or a flame, since polyester is spoiled well before anything looks wrong. Refit the SM295S dry, with nothing applied to it.
