The Supersport That Stayed
Kawasaki recertified the ZX-6R for Euro 5 when almost everyone else let their middleweight lapse. The 2024 bike has a revised intake, new gearing, a colour display and connectivity, and for a period it was the only new supersport machine available in Europe.
Six Hundred and Thirty-Six
The extra displacement puts the bike outside strict supersport homologation in some series and makes it markedly better on the road. Kawasaki has held that position for two decades and shows no sign of changing it.
Removing the Road Set
Indicators and horn go with the lights, and their positions go too. What remains is a smaller number of larger targets, spaced so the thumb can distinguish them without the eyes leaving the circuit.
No Loom Required
This is a race cluster, not a superbike one. It plugs into Kawasaki's own connector and the standard ECU handles it, so the conversion is unplug-and-plug rather than an electrical project.
Sealed for the Wash Bay
Milled from one block with sealed contacts. Track bikes are cleaned hot after every session and stored damp, and it is ingress rather than button wear that ends switchgear in that environment.
Black Only
A single anodised finish on this part number, which on a race-prepared motorcycle is generally what would be chosen anyway.
A Colour Display to Ignore
The 2024 bike came with a TFT screen and smartphone connectivity, neither of which is any use on a circuit. A race cluster removes the controls that navigate them, which leaves the cockpit doing only what the rider needs between the pit exit and the flag.
Reversible
The standard assembly unbolts and can be refitted before a sale. A recent ZX-6R is worth enough that buyers expect the original parts to be available, and keeping them costs nothing but shelf space.
