DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Honda VFR1200F is a big V4 sports tourer with shaft drive, and it was the first production motorcycle to be offered with Honda's dual-clutch transmission. Riders who cover long distances on bikes like this often keep a fuel log out of habit, noting the distance and the amount at every stop. That habit is worth taking to the circuit, where consumption changes completely. For the VFR 1200 F, Accossato lists the FC109 for 2010 to 2015: a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from solid aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl and a pin in the colour you choose.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Honda VFR1200F, listed for 2010 to 2015
- Made entirely of aluminium, CNC-machined
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Pin in one of six colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl sold separately
- Robust and durable according to Accossato; new design
- No German ABE on record; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium is the sole material of the FC109's body, which Accossato machines on CNC equipment and describes as robust and durable; the design, too, is new. A quick-closing pawl opens and closes the tank of the VFR1200F quickly, and the pin on that pawl comes in six colours; on a bike of this size, a small touch of colour at the top of the tank goes a long way. Accossato also sells the pawl separately, in case it is ever damaged.
Keeping a Fuel Log at the Track
On the road, a fuel log tells a touring rider how far the next tank will go. On a circuit the same notebook answers a different question: how many sessions can the VFR1200F run before it needs fuel? The answer is always fewer than the road figures suggest, because a track session keeps the engine at high revs and wide throttle openings almost all the time. Start the day with a known amount in the tank, write down how much you add at each top-up and how many sessions or laps the bike ran in between, and you will soon have figures for your bike, your pace and that particular circuit. Top up with the engine off and the bike on its stand, pour through a funnel and stop short of the neck. Close the pawl and check the cap by hand. Over a few events the log becomes a plan, and running dry on the far side of the track stops being something that happens to you.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the VFR 1200 F, we list the FC109 for the years 2010 to 2015, when the VFR1200F was built. Check your bike's year against the list before ordering, or ask us. In our shop the CB1000R, the CBR 600 RR and the CBR 1000 RR carry the same cap.
Road Approval
The FC109 has no German ABE and no documented parts certificate, and we offer it for use on the circuit only. The VFR1200F's factory cap normally locks with the ignition key; for touring and all other road riding, keep it on.
